Being wet and mild with a stream that never dries out even in hot dry summers, this woodland is akin to a Celtic rainforest with many areas of bryophytes, fungi, lichens and ferns. Bryophytes are a group of plants that include mosses, liverworts and hornworts. Lichens are made up of two or more closely interacting organisms, such as a fungus and an alga. Seven types of ferns have been identified in this woodland.
